A Breath Was Born

In the summer of 1954, in the silent plains of Parma, a breath was born.

At forty days old, Claudio Ferrarini crossed the border to Zurich with his emigrant parents.
Fragility marked his early years — poliomyelitis weakened his body —
but the breath grew stronger.

Listening to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, he discovered that air could sing.
Encountering Johann Sebastian Bach, he understood that song requires architecture.

The flute became not an instrument,
but a vertical axis between earth and sky.

Formation

From progressive rock stages to conservatory discipline,
from early experimentation to rigorous study with masters such as
Severino Gazzelloni and John Cage,

Ferrarini shaped a musical identity rooted in fire and silence.

At twenty-four, he made his solo debut at the Teatro Regio di Parma.
Soon, the journey expanded across the world’s most prestigious stages, including the
Carnegie Hall (New York)
and the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

Virtuosity was never display.
It was structural necessity.
